Program Areas and Responsibilities
Emma Neighborhood Council
Neighborhood outreach for monthly meetings
Coordination and communication with collaborators and partners
Develop popular education processes to engage community members in policy work
Emma Community Plan
Organize and engage members, nonprofits, and policy makers for implementation and approval of policies identified in the Community Plan
Participate in local, regional and national coalitions that are strategic to advancing the goals of the Plan
Local and Statewide Policy
Ongoing policy strategy development, including needed research, analysis and mapping, and identifying opportunities for new strategic policy interventions
Monitoring and analyzing local policy, regulatory and funding decisions related to PODER Emma’s strategies
Create and convene a statewide initiative focused on mobile home park protections
PODER Emma Membership
Door to door outreach and ongoing communication with organizational members
Maintenance of member records in organizational software and database
Collaborate in ongoing neighborhood based community research efforts
Administrative
Participate in Collaborative staff meetings
Participate in organizational Open Book Financial Management and ensure financial transparency
Management and evaluation of programmatic strategies and goals
Required Skills and Experience
Resident of Emma/Erwin or strong community ties
Confident bilingual communication skills with diverse community members, partner organizations and institutions
Strong written communication skills
Strong ability to build relationships
Confident in computer skills, including use of email, zoom, google drive, etc.
Commitment to building strong, healthy collaborations in order to advance community wellbeing
Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects and priorities effectively and professionally
Ability to work independently
Strong attention to detail
Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
Desired Additional Skills and Experience; not required, organization will provide training if needed
1 year or more of community organizing, advocacy, or popular education experience
Public speaking and presentation skills
Project management experience, logistics coordination, program administration

Availability, compensation and benefits:
This new position will be 20 to 40 hours, depending on the selected applicant’s availability. While the overall schedule is somewhat adaptable, there will be certain events and priority tasks that will require regular and consistent involvement. We will work with the ideal candidate to determine the specific starting hours. Occasional nights and weekends required for meetings and events.
Depending on previous experience, this may be a Level 2 or Level 3 position, with starting pay ranging between $26 - $29 per hour (depending on experience), plus a generous benefits package
Position is office and community based, not remote
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer required, must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
